What never leaves your computer
Everything you enter into the builder — your address, parcel number, assessed values, comparable sales, contractor estimates, and every photograph you upload — is held in your own browser’s local storage. The PowerPoint and PDF are generated on your machine too. None of it is transmitted to us, and none of it is stored on any server we control.
This is not a policy we could quietly change without you noticing: the app has no database, and no code path that uploads your appeal. If you clear your browser data, your work is gone and we cannot recover it for you. That is the trade-off, and we think it is the right one for a product that asks you to photograph the inside of your house.
What does leave your computer
| What | When | Who receives it |
|---|---|---|
| Your property address, as one line of text | Only when you start checkout | Stripe, so the receipt says which property you bought for |
| Your email and payment details | At checkout | Stripe only — we never see your card number |
| A Stripe checkout session ID | When you return from paying | Us, to confirm the payment and unlock your export |
| Standard web request data (IP address, browser, page requested) | Every page load | Vercel, our hosting provider, in ordinary server logs |
| An anonymous page view: which page, where you arrived from, your country, and whether you are on a phone or a desktop | Every page load | Vercel Web Analytics — see below |
That is the complete list. No photographs, no comparable sales, no contractor estimates, no assessed values.
Analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views, so we can tell how many people find the site and how many get as far as building an appeal. It records the page you are on, the site you arrived from, your country, and your device type. It runs on the builder as well as the marketing pages.
It is cookieless. It does not set a tracking cookie, does not assign you a persistent identifier, does not follow you to other websites, and cannot see anything you type. Your address, your assessed values, your comparables and your photographs are not visible to it, because they are never sent anywhere.
Cookies and local storage
We set no advertising cookies and run no third-party ad trackers. The app uses your browser’s local storage to remember your appeal in progress, your theme preference, and whether you have paid. That is storage on your own device, not a cookie sent to us.
If we ever add advertising measurement or anything that identifies you individually, this page will say so before it goes live.
If you email hello@assessedtoohigh.com, we keep that correspondence so we can help you. We do not add you to a mailing list you did not ask for.
Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as an independent controller of your payment information under its own privacy policy. We receive confirmation that a payment succeeded and the last four digits and card brand on your receipt. We never receive or store your full card number.
Your rights
Because we hold almost nothing about you, most data requests resolve quickly. You can delete everything we could possibly have on you by clearing your browser storage for this site and emailing us to remove your correspondence and ask Stripe to delete your customer record. If you are in California, the EU, or the UK and want a formal accounting of what we hold, email us and we will provide it.
Children
This service is for property owners and is not directed at anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and note what changed. Contact: hello@assessedtoohigh.com.
