If your assessment isn’t reduced, you get a full refund
This is the whole promise. You pay $149, you build the appeal, you file it yourself. If your jurisdiction does not reduce your assessed value, we refund the entire $149.
To claim it, email refund@assessedtoohigh.com with:
- The property address and parcel number
- The determination you received — a photo of the letter, a PDF, or a screenshot of the updated record on the county’s site is fine
We are not looking for reasons to say no. If the decision is ambiguous, or the county reduced something other than what you asked for, tell us what happened and we will err toward refunding you.
Claim within 60 days of your jurisdiction’s final determination. Appeals can take months to resolve, so the clock starts when you get the answer — not when you paid.
If you change your mind before filing
Email refund@assessedtoohigh.comwithin 30 days of purchase and we will refund you, no questions and no reason needed. If you bought this, looked at the work involved, and decided it isn’t for you, that is a completely reasonable thing to conclude and we would rather refund you than keep money you feel bad about.
What we can’t refund against
The guarantee covers the outcome of an appeal you actually filed. It does not cover:
- A deadline you missed. Filing deadlines are set by your jurisdiction and cannot be extended by us. See the note on deadlines in our terms— verifying yours is the single most important thing you do.
- An appeal you didn’t file. If you built the deck and never submitted it, use the 30-day change-of-mind refund above instead.
- A reduction you consider too small. If your value came down at all, the appeal worked. We have no way to referee whether it should have come down further.
How refunds are processed
Back to the original card through Stripe, usually within two business days of us approving it. Your bank may take another five to ten days to post it. We do not keep your card details and cannot charge you again.
